The train offers one glorious week of travel, recapturing the pomp and pageantry of royal past in incomparable style. The new saloons are done in delicate cream, with a border of flowers. The train is fully vestibuled and air-conditioned. Completely self-sufficient, its public places include two restaurant coaches and a bar with an attached library. Deep veneered wood encases large picture windows through which guests an see the country side of-a thousand-battles slide effortlessly past, and a stark landscape broken by groups of colourfully-dressed-women or ragged dune-top fortress. Inside the train, lights glow intimately and stained glass mirrors reflect a myriad images. Soft music plays in the background as master chefs serve up superb meals and the barkeeper mixes your favourite cocktails. Blinds in traditional colours are layered across windows in a manner reminiscent of palaces. The 14 coaches are named after former Rajput states. Each evokes visions of those royal kingdoms.
